About Daniel Menely, LMHC

Therapy helping individuals, couples,
and students in-person and online

I have worked as an educator since my graduation from Vassar College. For the last 13 years, I have also been an Associate Professor at NYU-Tisch School of the Arts, where I teach creative non-fiction to first-year students. In some ways, the creative process is similar to therapy: both are spaces cultivated for open expression, insight, and creating meaning. Developing introspection and the skills to effectively express oneself are at the center of both my careers.

Both professional spaces involve vulnerability, determination, and resilience. I can’t imagine a more rewarding professional life, because I get to watch others grow, which in turn helps me grow. Learning from my students and patients alike is one of the most rewarding aspects of both careers.

My Professional Background

I received my counseling degree from NYU, where I additionally completed a year-long post-masters Certificate in Advanced Assessment and Diagnosis. I am a Board-Certified Life Coach with clients around the world. I work with couples using The Gottman Method, for which I have Level 3 Practicum Training.
